EAGER TO CONTINUE LEARNING BUT CAN'T GET TO COURSES ? Universities of the Third Age (U3As) cater for older persons who want to continue learning in a relaxed environment. But not everyone can get to a U3A. if you are an older person living in remote or isolated circumstances, you could enjoy a U3A ONLINE course. Learning does not stop because you live in a remote area, are an invalid or a career - all you need is access to the internet and you could participate in specially-designed online courses by joining a 'virtual' U3A, IB-U3A, through the web site http://www.u3aonline.org.au/ The first two courses now online for IB-U3a members are: Botany Writing Family History More courses are Being written and will be online during the year. Help us try out this exciting new project Clheck out the web site and join up; or contact the Project Co-ordinator, Sandra Duke, on email at info@u3aonline.org.au

Dear colleague, Have you heard about ALON? Adult Learning On-Line at http://www.alon.com.au ALON is a web-based database, designed to enable information sharing and networking in the adult learning community. ALON was launched in May, and now that it has had some use, Adult Learning Australia, which is responsible for managing ALON, is collecting feedback, in order to improve ALON, and ensure that it is able to fulfill its promise. If you are interested in networking in the adult learning field, in putting yourself on the World Wide Web for others to find, or in looking for contacts then you may find ALON an invaluable resource. Current categories include Providers, Tutors, Adult Learning Projects, Academics/researchers, Courses in Adult Education, Consultants, Resources and a Calendar. We particularly need feedback from tutors, providers, neighbourhood houses and consultants, the grass roots people and organisations that make the sector work. So please, take a look at ALON <http://www.alon.com.au>, try entering and searching information, and come along to the Workshop to share your thoughts on ALON.
